More About Hematology/Oncology Fellowship

Eligibility

Applicants must have satisfactorily completed a three-year training program in General Internal Medicine and have been declared eligible for the examination leading to certification. In addition, each candidate must satisfy all criteria established by UMMC for such programs, including an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Mississippi.

Facilities

The Division of Hematology/Oncology uses the University of Mississippi Medical Center, a 700+ bed hospital that serves as the principal teaching hospital for the UMMC School of Medicine. It also uses the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center, also a teaching facility for UMMC. Faculty of the Division of Hematology/Oncology help staff its 500-bed hospital.

UMMC has nine oncologists, four hematologists, one clinical geneticist and one PhD research faculty member. Affiliate faculty help train fellows at the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center.
